Visa Information

The information below may be updated rapidly depending on the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic in Japan. We will make a maximum effort to provide up-to-date information to the participants, but please directly check the latest announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan by yourselves. The PG 2022 organization team shall bear no liability whatsoever for any damages resulting from the following information.

Who requires a visa to travel to Japan?

Currently, all foreign nationals who wish to newly enter Japan need to apply for a visa except for those with re-entry permits. Please note that due to the impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the visa approval procedure may take longer than usual.

Required documents for the visa application

In addition to the documents required for a regular visa application (such as an invitation letter), you will be requested to prepare a “Certificate for Completion of Registration to the ERFS System,” which is the certificate completed prescribed application in the “Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS).”

Once the participant from a foreign nation has informed us of the necessity of the visa application with the registration form, we will prepare the Certificate for Completion of Registration to the ERFS system and an invitation letter, which are required for the visa application. For other documents needed for the application (except for those the inviter needs to prepare, e.g., an invitation letter), the participants are required to prepare by themselves. For the required documents, please check the official information from the Embassy of Japan in your country. To prepare a document, such as an invitation letter, other than the Certificate for Completion of Registration to the ERFS system, we will charge 13000 JPY to each applicant.

Be careful that the secretariat can send the required documents only to the following people and will decline the applications from those who are not ensured qualified.

  • Authors of the papers for Pacific Graphics 2022, including short papers
  • Researchers or students of computer graphics and other related fields
